部内戦開始 / Scrimmage Showdown

フワッフ / Fwuff

うんうん。まだまだ成長もできるし、初心者でいきなりこんな演技もできる。

すごいことだよ!

Indeed. Kakeru still has plenty of room to grow, but it's very impressive that a rookie could nail a performance like that so quickly!

カケル / Kakeru

……ありがとうございます!

Aw, thanks!

Kakeru used a full polite “thank you” with Fwuff, the way one should speak with their teacher in Japanese, but the English one sounds casual.

カケル / Kakeru

あ、キャノ先輩。競技服に着替えたんすね!

ひまわりの飾りがいい味出してるっす!

Hey, Cannie. Oh, you changed into your Groover outfit! Those sunflower decorations really make the whole thing pop!

Japanese has more words to use than “Groover”. For example, “performance outfit” kyougi fuku 競技服.

キャノン / Canon

えへへ、ありがとカケルくん♪

わたしもひまわりお気に入りなんだ♪

Ehehe! Thanks, Kakeru! ♪ I absolutely adore sunflowers! ♪

カケル / Kakeru

ひまわりは太陽に向かって咲くっていうし

キャノ先輩にぴったりですよ!

Sunflowers bloom facing the sun, right? That totally fits your vibe, Cannie!

Kakeru is stating the obvious in Japanese, because Canon’s family name Himukai 陽向 means facing the sun, and not just fitting the “vibe”.

キャノン / Canon

ひゃ、そんなに褒められちゃうとは!

これはお日様にむかってグングン成長しないと!

Whoa, I'm totally flattered! I'm gonna have to bask in the sun's rays and get even better at Groove Coaster!

The Japanese one works better as she alludes to how a plant grows faster with sunlight, and is not exactly talking about getting better at Groove Coaster.

キャノン / Canon

ゴーゴー! グルーヴコースター!

Go go! Groove Coaster!

This translates easily as it is the same. I just wanted to mention that Canon is one of the “unawakened” characters until a certain story point, and still doesn’t have her own shout in the format of something something GROOVE COASTER yet. So the scriptwriter needed to assign her a basic one that also doesn’t collide with anyone yet.
